強みばかりを

強きは弱く

【Meaning】

1)

Do not think that temae merely is to be conducted with strength.

True strength include weakness and lightness and heaviness.

2)

Whatever utensil you handle, pick it up as if it were light.

And put it down as if it were heavy.

I am not the expert of Japanese tea ceremony.

But a lot of poetry in Rikyu Hyakushu are described about strength and weight.

Neither the relative importance of the thing nor strength of operation are shown in the tea ceremony, and I think that I value the movement of nature.

Temae demonstrator should not break natural movement by the weight of the tool at the tea ceremony.

The mistake occurs when the light weight things is handled lightly.

Therefore, if you handle light utensil as if it were heavy, you can use the utensil carefully.

Also, if you handle heavy utensil as if it were light, you can use the utensil gracefully.

If you can do both behavior, your behavior will be natural movement.

The man who wants to become strong often tries to have a heavy thing lightly.

But opposite case was blind point.

If we try to handle a light thing heavily, we may feel thanks to all of our daily things.

For example of Bugei, there is difference in the weight between a weapon, but the purpose to take the life of the person does not change. We would like to handle all of the weapons carefully.

I feel I really would like to respect all of the things in tea ceremony.
